HOW DOES THE SPANISH GAMING REGULATION AFFECT LIVE BETTING?

The Spanish online gaming regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), has set up specific rules that limit the amount of money that can be used in live bets during a sports event.

How much can I bet live?

The regulation establishes that a user is allowed to place live bets for an amount equivalent to his or her current account balance before a match begins. For example, if you have €10 in your account at the commencement of a match, you can place a maximum of €10 in live bets on that match. Even if you win €20 during the match and your balance increases to €30, you will not be able to use that extra €20 to place live bets in that specific match.

Why did the regulator set up this limit?

The DGOJ thinks that if there wouldn’t be such limits, users would make deposits compulsively during the match in order to place more live bets. The aim of the regulation is to make users bet more carefully, choosing and planning their bets in advance.
